How many bottles are in your cask, today and in the years ahead.
Use the bulk litres and strength from your latest regauge if you have one. The example shown is a freshly filled hogshead at 63.5%.
A cask loses most in its first couple of years, then the rate slows. Giving the age means the heavier early-year losses aren’t applied again to an older cask.
Every cask and warehouse is different. The defaults follow figures commonly quoted for Scotland: around 4% of the volume in the first year, halfway between that and the later rate in year two, then about 2% a year, with strength falling by about 0.5% ABV a year. We allow 5% for whisky lost in the cask, filtering and filling at bottling. Set that to 0 to see the most the cask could give.

These figures are an estimate. Every cask matures differently, and a fresh regauge is the most accurate figure you’ll get before bottling.
