Isle of Skye Private Tours

Sea cliffs, island whisky and the best of Skye without the crowds. Skye is one of the most beautiful places in Scotland, and one of the busiest. Our private tours pair you with guides who live on or near the island, so you see the Skye they know.

The difference between a good day and a great one is knowing when to arrive, where to walk and which road to take when everyone else takes the other.

  • Seafood straight from the boatLangoustines, scallops and oysters, with tables at the island’s best restaurants.

Island Whisky

Skye and its neighbours make some of Scotland’s most distinctive island malts, maritime and often gently peated.

Talisker

At Carbost on Loch Harport, the island’s oldest distillery, known for its peppery, smoky style.

Torabhaig

In Sleat, a young distillery in a restored farmstead overlooking the sea.

Raasay

A short ferry ride across the Inner Sound, with views back to the Cuillin.

We arrange private visits and tastings where they are offered, and can bring a tasting to you with our whisky team. Skye combines naturally with Islay or Speyside for a longer whisky journey.

Experiences

Island Experiences

Skye lends itself to memorable moments. We can arrange a bonfire on a quiet beach with local musicians and Gaelic song, seafood cooked over fire on the shore, or a private evening of island stories and whisky. Every experience is designed around you, and we are only limited by our imaginations.

Practical notes

Getting There

Most guests arrive by road over the Skye Bridge, often after a day on the west coast or the West Highland Line. Others cross by ferry from Mallaig, or by helicopter for a shorter stay. Your chauffeur-guide stays with you on the island, so there is no need to drive the single-track roads yourself. Skye pairs naturally with our Highlands private tours.

When to Go

May and September are our favourite months: long days, gentle light and fewer visitors than July and August. Winter is wild and quiet, and some restaurants and distilleries keep shorter hours.

Questions

Questions Guests Often Ask

How many days do we need on Skye?

Two full days is the minimum to enjoy it without rushing; three lets you add Raasay or a boat trip.

Is Skye too busy in summer?

It can be, which is why a local guide and good timing make such a difference.

Can Skye be combined with the Highlands?

Yes, and it usually is. Skye sits at the end of the most beautiful road on the west coast.
